Meet Patti

Since planting roots in Dripping Springs, Texas in 2008, Patti Johnson has found endless inspiration in the rolling hills, vibrant sunsets, and warm-hearted community of the Hill Country. Patti is the creative spirit behind Hues of the Hill Country—a space where color meets charm and forgotten furniture finds new life.

With a passion for reimagining the old into something wonderfully new, Patti delights in repurposing furniture, breathing fresh energy into vintage pieces with layers of paint, whimsy, and personality. Her approach is joyful, intuitive, and full of flair—each project infused with playfulness and a deep love for her craft.

More than just an artist, Patti is a true community enthusiast. Whether she’s participating in local events, collaborating with fellow creatives, or simply chatting with neighbors at the local coffee shop, her roots in Dripping Springs run deep. She believes in the power of creativity to bring people together—and in the magic of a well-loved chair with a fresh coat of paint.

Welcome to Hues of the Hill Country—where art, community, and a splash of fun always meet.

Meet Amy

Amy Barakos wears many hats — shop owner, design consultant, yarn wrangler, and self-proclaimed color whisperer. As the heart behind Hues of the Hill Country and The Sated Sheep, Amy brings her bold, textured, joy-fueled vision to everything she touches — especially furniture that’s just begging for a second chance.

Her journey started with The Rural Home, where she fell in love with the magic of Fusion Mineral Paint. When her former business partner decided to retire (and not just from business, but apparently from glitter, bold hues, and furniture makeovers), Amy turned to her now-partner-in-paint, Patti Johnson, with a sparkly idea: “Let’s open a new shop that celebrates color, texture, and creativity — and let’s make it fabulous.”

Amy is happiest when she’s elbow-deep in paint, surrounded by brushes, textures, patterns, and people. She believes in creating furniture with character, walls that talk (nicely), and homes that smile. Her style is vibrant, layered, a little bit fearless — just like her.

Stop by and say hi — but fair warning: you might leave with a can of paint, a design plan, and an irresistible urge to re-do everything in your house.
